Reviews
Leonardo at the front desk is super, his dedication is apparent and the property is lucky to have him. Our room was spacious and clean - larger than expected. The common area had a nice Christmas tree. The breakfast was fine, they had sufficient choices and made drinks to order.
Since we were there for only one night we were out and about but if we had stayed in the tea time / wine hour would have been a good option in the afternoon.
We didn’t mind at all the short flight of stairs to get to the elevator to get to reception when we checked in (my four year old daughter climbed them with ease.)
We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Davanzati. Besides lugging our bags up the steps to the elevator (which they warned us about when we made the reservation), every moment at the hotel was perfect. The front desk staff was always courteous and gave us many restaurant recommendations, all of which turned out to be exceptional. The room was much larger than expected and laid out well. Breakfast was a lovely feature, as was the evening happy hour. The location was also excellent and allowed us to come back to reset between visits to the sites. We highly recommend this hotel.
A gem in central historic Florence
Felt like a boutique hotel in a historic building. Not easy to find with just a small plaque outside the entrance. Very central in the middle of all the sights and a 10 minute walk from the train station. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Anyone who finds climbing stairs difficult needs to be aware that there are 20 plus steps up to the hotel entrance from the street. Staff are happy to help with luggage.
Well equipped room with comfortable bed, fridge, tv, two chairs and safe. Room was quiet with windows closed and effective air conditioning. Plenty of plug sockets including next to the bed, and ample storage space, with hangars. Spotlessly clean. Lovely big bath towels.
Ample breakfast with a good choice including fruit, yogurt, cereals, bread, croissants, cheese, ham etc, but not much variety each day. Freshly made filter coffee and cappuccino. The free availability of fresh apples and water, plus the free afternoon tea and cake, and free drinks with crisps and peanuts in the evening happy hour, more than made up for any minor quibbles about breakfast.
Staff was very friendly, very helpful. Room was nice, bed very uncomfortable, too hard. Room was also too hot for our comfort, could not get the temperature controls to work. Happy hour was a nice touch. Well located to explore Florence. You do have to climb stairs to enter.
Can be a challenge if you are having heavy luggage to carry one level up to where lift is.
Other than that, good decent room size, amenities, good temperature control during winter, and huges thanks to the hotel for accommodating us for earlier breakfast. Decent choices and we like it.
Totally different experience staying here. The front desk is very nice and helpful. The rooms are beautifully decorated old school and modern style. Good breakfast to kick off the morning and yeah the first flight of stairs is a must to access the hotel. But they’re helpful to bring luggage up and down
Spent two nights here in November. The third time I have stayed at this hotel. There is a reason I keep coming back!
Great location...easy walk to everything in Florence. And the rooms are nice. But, what makes this place work is the staff. Friendly and helpful, the staff here is fantastic!
I highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Florence.
I only stayed one night at this hotel, but if I knew about it before I might’ve stayed here for my other Florence trips as well! The location is nice, the rooms are clean, and the service was amazingly friendly. There is a breakfast, tea time, and “happy hour” (pleasant, quiet time in the dining area with dimmed lights, music, and complimentary wine) included. I also want to say, this was the quietest hotel I’ve stayed at in Florence. Many of them you hear people all night or you hear cleaning/trash pickup. Maybe because it’s farther from the duomo, where some of the noisiest hotels are, but it was completely quiet.
